High Precision PEEK Machining Processes

CNC Machining PEEK
Multi-axis cutting systems that use 3 – 5 axis CNC machines to achieve tight tolerances (as close as +/- 0.005 mm) and smooth surfaces (up to Ra ≤ 0.8 µm), making our CNC machining PEEK processes ideal for aerospace and medical grade components.
Precision multi-axis machining allows complex geometries to be made in a single setup with minimal seams and improved structural strength.

PEEK Tooling
Our engineers have streamlined the cutting process with the best tools, including carbide and, more importantly, polished flutes and high positive rake angles for the smoothest cutting.
PEEK can also be machined using diamond-coated carbide tools and PCD tools for high-volume PEEK production.

PEEK Cutting Parameters
Material machining depends on PEEK grade, and generally, 300-600 SFM is ideal for PEEK
PEEK requires low depth of cuts and feed rates, and our machining process uses multiple light passes to minimize heat and surface distortion.
Special PEEK Machining Processes
Micromachining for miniature components such as implants or connectors.
Overmolding can produce hybrid components by integrating PEEK with metals or other materials.
PEEK Grades and Types for Machining
PROLEANMFG provides machined PEEK parts for various industries and grades. Our PEEK material includes unfilled, reinforced, high-temperature, and specialty formulations.
Unfilled PEEK
Pure PEEK, widely used for precision parts with high toughness, chemical resistance, and FDA compliance.
⦁ Grades: TECAPEEK natural, KetaSpire™ KT 820NT
Reinforced Grades
Reinfoced grades of PEEK have improved mechanical properties like strength and resistance.
⦁ Glass-Filled: TECAPEEK GF30 natural, KT 820GF30
⦁ Carbon-Filled: TECAPEEK CF30 black, KT 820CF30
Heat-Resistant PEEK
⦁ Grades: TECAPEEK HT black (PEK-based), TECAPEEK ST black (PEKEKK-based)
Bearing Grade PEEK
Designed for low friction and wear resistance via fillers like PTFE and carbon

FAQs
How To Machine PEEK Plastics?
PEEK plastic can be pre-processed before machining through processes like annealing. PEEK can be machined using carbide or PCD tooling with moderate feed rates.
- Feed rate: 0.05–0.25 mm/rev
- Depth of cut: 1–3 mm for roughing passe
- Spindle speed: 1,000–4,000 RPM
What Material Is PEEK Most Like Machining?
PEEK is similar in machining to Derlin.
When Machining PEEK, What Is A Loose Tolerance To Use?
Loose tolerances for PEEK follow ISO 2768-m and achievable tolerances can be +/- 0.005 mm.
